Novant Center Adds Nurse Practitioner

Catherine (Katy) Swain
A nurse practitioner with extensive local connections has joined Novant Health Oceanside Family Medicine and Convenient Care in Shallotte.

Catherine (Katy) Swain, a certified family nurse practitioner, recently earned her master’s degree from the family practitioner program at Duke University. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

As part of her professional preparation, Swain trained at Varnam Family Wellness Center, Shallotte Medical Center, Pelican Family Medicine, Columbus Pediatrics and Adolescent Care and the Columbus County Health Department. She was a nurse at both New Hanover Regional Medical Center and the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, S.C.

Most recently, Swain worked as a registered nurse at Novant Health Oceanside Family Medicine and Convenient Care while she completed her certification as a family nurse practitioner. She is now a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
