The Wilmington chapter of SCORE has elected John A. McCloskey chapter chairman.
McCloskey joined Wilmington SCORE immediately following his retirement as president and CEO of Schaeffler Aerospace in 2011. He has been actively involved in expanding the business counseling organization’s presence in Brunswick County as well as serving as a business mentor at SCORE’s main office on Oleander Drive in Wilmington, according to the organization’s news release.
The new chairman’s stated mission for the next two years is to support the SCORE chapter’s stated mission of expanding its brand awareness throughout the chapter’s six-county service area. Initial focus will be on Brunswick and Pender counties, with continued service to New Hanover County.
McCloskey holds BSIE and MBA degrees and has done post-graduate studies at Harvard, London University and IMI Geneva (Switzerland). He resides in Southport where his family owns and operates several small businesses.
