Delta Air Lines this week took over the daily flight between Wilmington International Airport and LaGuardia Airport.
The airline plans to add a second daily flight on the route starting July 11.
The Delta flight replaces US Airways’ direct Wilmington-to-New York route, because the deal came about as a “slot swap” between the two carriers.
The new flights are part of Delta’s overall expansion in New York. The airline is adding 100 new flights to LaGuardia and putting $160 million into updates to two terminals at the New York airport, according to a press release.
The flight from ILM is on a 50-seat regional jet operated by Chatauqua Airlines, a Delta Connection carrier.
The daily route schedule that started Monday has the plane leaving LaGuardia at 12:59 p.m. and arriving at Wilmington at 3:01 p.m. Later in the evening, the flight departs Wilmington at 6:55 p.m. and arrives at LaGuardia at 8:32 p.m.
Starting July 11, the daily schedule is expected to be:
Departs Wilmington at 8:01 a.m. and arrives in LaGuardia at 9:40 a.m.
Departs Wilmington at 4:12 p.m. and arrives in LaGuardia at 5:49 p.m.
Departs LaGuardia at 1:40 p.m. and arrives in Wilmington at 3:42 p.m.
Departs LaGuardia at 9 p.m. and arrives in Wilmington at 10:58 p.m.
