Kirby Whitley, Brunswick County Utilities GIS specialist, recently completed a program to become a licensed professional land surveyor, county officials announced in a press release.

Public utilities director Jerry Pierce said Whitley researched the program’s requirements and then took the initiative to complete the training and to receive the letters of recommendation necessary to qualify.

“This is a great accomplishment for Kirby and will be a great asset to Brunswick County, as we often have the need for surveying work associated with easement acquisition,” Pierce said in a statement. “We are extremely proud of Kirby for this accomplishment.”
