Coldwater Creek To Close Wilmington, All Other Stores

By J. Elias O'Neal, posted Apr 21, 2014
A retail mainstay at the Mayfaire Town Center that specializes in woman’s apparel and accessories will soon be shuttering its operations across the nation, including in Wilmington, according to a recent news release.

Idaho-based Coldwater Creek recently announced that the company and all of its U.S. subsidiaries filed voluntary petitions under Chapter 11 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington, Del., “to facilitate an orderly wind-down of its operations,” the news release stated.

The store currently occupies 3,907 square feet of retail space at 6849 Main St. in the Mayfaire Town Center development, Sue Rice, Mayfaire director of operations, said  Monday. She said Coldwater Creek has not notified Mayfaire officials about a tentative closing date.

Coldwater Creek’s stores will remain open for business, the news release stated, with many hosting a number of closeout sales. The company expects to commence sales to liquidate its inventory in early May.

Coldwater Creek has operated in the Wilmington retail market since it first opened in the Mayfaire Town Center on May 25, 2004, Rice said.
