Taste Of Wrightsville Beach Winners Announced

Taste of Wrightsville Beach event organizers this week announced the winners of this year’s showcase.
 
Area restaurants competed Nov. 6 in the eighth annual Taste of Wrightsville Beach, which took place under a tent in Bluewater Grill’s parking lot. The event included 20 participating restaurants as well as a handful of local and regional breweries and wineries. It benefitted Weekend Meals on Wheels of New Hanover County.
 
About 600 people attended including patrons and vendors, organizers said.
 
The winners were:
 
JUDGES OVERALL DISH
1st Place - The Green House’s king trumpet mushroom scallops with pumpkin curry
2nd Place - East at Blockade Runner’s miso braised ribs with parsnip puree, heirloom squash, lotus chips and microgreens
3rd Place - Ceviche’s chipotle tuna tostada
 
JUDGES SAVORY DISH
1st Place - East at Blockade Runner’s miso braised ribs with parsnip puree, heirloom squash, lotus chips and microgreens
2nd Place - Gulfstream Restaurant’s honey butter chicken fried chicken
3rd Place - Mellow Mushroom’s white bean chicken chili
 
JUDGES SWEET DISH
1st Place - Ceviche’s key lime matcha cheesecake
2nd Place - The Green House’s chocolate almond cake truffle
3rd Place - Surfberry’s organic acai, blended with strawberries and bananas; topped with organic hemp granola, chocolate chips, honey and Nutella
 
PEOPLES CHOICE DISH
1st Place - Ceviche’s chipotle tuna tostada
2nd Place - East at Blockade Runner’s miso braised ribs with parsnip puree, heirloom squash, lotus chips and microgreens
3rd Place - Gulfstream Restaurant’s honey butter chicken fried chicken
