Midtown Incredible Pizza Changes Hands

By Jamie Lynn Miller, posted Nov 3, 2021
Jay Askew has been a professional pie guy for more than two decades. From Chicago-style deep dish to pepperoni rolls from Pittsburgh, the new co-owner of Midtown Incredible Pizza brings Italian food-savvy from some of the nation’s hot spots.

“I’ve done a lot of pizza makin’ in my life,” said the 22-year Wilmington local.

And he’s managed Italian restaurants, too, from Papa Gino’s in Boston to Antonio’s in Wilmington. Midtown Incredible Pizza is the first place to call his own.

The location’s name is changing to Jay’s Incredible Pizza.

They serve it up in-house, online, take-out and delivery, and the menu keeps growing: an amalgamation of good Italian from Askew’s culinary travels. Staples include tiramisu cups, cannoli rolls, salads, calzones, Stromboli – and of course, that Chicago-Style pizza.

Though the name may change (stay tuned: Jay’s Incredible Pizza), pepperoni rolls from Pittsburgh are here to stay.

Co-owner Tom Hayes owns Myrtle Grove Inn and drives a school bus.

“Now he’s flippin’ pies with me,” Askew said with a laugh.

With a tried-and-true location at 3600 S. College Road, Suite A and an established following, the new owners of Midtown Incredible Pizza tip their hat to former owner Andrew Kelly, who helped build the customer base.

The restaurant currently has dinner hours 4 p.m.-9 p.m. and plans to add lunchtime hours soon.

“Incredible Pizza has been around here for about 10 years,” Askew said, “and we’re the last location!”
