Slice Of Life Up And Running In Porters Neck

Slice of Life Pizzeria & Pub in Porters Neck is now in full swing.

“Things have been great so far,” said owner Ray Worrell, who  opened the fourth location of his restaurant chain earlier this month. “We’ve been well received and are working through the normal issues that come about when opening a new restaurant.”

The Porters Neck pizzeria is within a new multi-unit development he owns at 163 Porters Neck Road. Worrell selected the location in part to expand Slice of Life’s presence into the growing Porters Neck area, and also because of its accessibility to the future connection of Porters Neck Road with Interstate 140.

Worrell designed the new development to house the 4,000-square-foot restaurant, as well as well as a neighboring 6,000-square-foot space now available for lease through Jeff Hovis of Intracoastal Realty.

Worrell said he hopes to fill part of that space with a breakfast cafe that will feature coffee and healthy breakfast options. The development also includes a shared outdoor gathering space, between Slice and the neighboring building, that is outfitted with fire pits and communal seating.

As for Slice’s new building, constructed by local contractors Chambliss & Rabil, there are 100 seats inside, with another 32 on an indoor-outdoor patio that is accessible via garage doors. There is also a dog-friendly outdoor pavilion for live music and events. The building was designed with an industrial feel and includes exposed brick, corrugated metal and caged vapor lighting. Worrell said he is currently working on installing some sound absorbing panels to help with the building’s acoustics.

Overall, Worrell said he was very pleased with the contractor’s work and the fact that they stayed right on track with their timeline for completion, even in the wake of Hurricane Florence.

The new location features the same menu available at all Slice of Life locations, along with a full bar and 14 beers on tap, half of which will be a rotating selection of local craft beers. Bestsellers Waterline Kolsch and Tropical Lightening IPA are always on tap at all locations.

Slice’s signature lunch special of two slices, two toppings and pasta salad is available for $7.99 and there are 27 TVs throughout the restaurant all carrying the NFL package.

All Slice of Life locations are open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m.
