Officials with Check Six Brewing Co., which opened Brunswick County’s first brewery, announced via Facebook that Check Six is closing.

The post, dated July 17, stated:

“Greetings all our faithful customers. It is with a heavy heart that we at Check 6 have to close our doors. Please understand that we did not make this decision lightly.

"After a very long and hard struggle with hurricanes, distribution problems, etc. we decided that it was best to say goodbye.

"We are grateful for the support and loyalty that we have experienced from all of you. We are sorry to say goodbye however we will cherish the friendships and the memories that we have made from all of you along the way. The family of Check 6 wishes everyone good health and fond memories. Remember to always Check your 6!”

The veteran-owned and operated craft brewery was founded in 2012 by Tim Hassel and Noah Goldman, opening for business in Southport in 2015 with the help of Norm Weiss and Mike Goldman.

In January 2018, the brewery added a food truck, Hangar 17 Cuisine, which served both the brewery and traveled to area events.
 
Owners declined to comment on the closure.
