Area Restaurants Create Special Menus For Valentine's Day

By Jessica Maurer, posted Feb 7, 2018

While some choose to steer clear of the crowds on Valentine’s Day, for many this is an important date night. If you’re still in need of a game plan for tonight, several area restaurants have created special Valentine’s Day menus, many with wine pairings, for a night to remember.

The following are some of the restaurants in the Wilmington area with specials:

If you’re looking to spend your evening downtown, The George on the Riverwalk, 128 S. Water St., is offering a Valentine’s dinner for two for $120 that includes your choice of two starters; two entrees: crab Oscar filet mignon and crab Cake, salmon Rockefeller or chicken Florentine; one dessert; and two glasses of champagne. For reservations, call 763-2052.

Dram + Morsel, 33 S. Front St. through Friday has a prix-fixe menu for two will be available, featuring a bottle of Proseco or two glasses of house wine, two salads, two entrees and a dessert to share for $80 a couple. Entrée selections include:  grouper over risotto asparagus and a crab lemon beurre blanc; grilled airline chicken over chorizo dirty rice with a shrimp-and-grit sauce; filet Oscar with lemon mash and pan-seared broccolini; and marinated grilled portabella stuffed with roasted bell peppers and goat cheese over a roasted tomatoes, spinach and orzo in a creamy pesto sauce. For more details visit the restaurant's Facebook page.

Cousin’s Italian Deli, 7 N. Third St., will be serving a six-course Italian dinner on Valentine's Day similar to its weekend family-style dinner service. Reservations are required and all guests will have the chance to win two tickets to a performance at the Wilson Center. Call 343-3354 for reservations.

In mid-town, CAM Café at the Cameron Arts Museum, 3201 S. 17th St., is hosting a $75-per-person, five-course wine dinner (menu pictured at right) Wednesday, featuring wines from France. Assorted passed hors d’oeuvres will be served from 5 to 6 p.m. with Jacques Pelvas Brut Rosé. You can also find the full menu on the cafe's website.

In Carolina Beach, Surf House, 604 N. Lake Park Blvd., will be serving a four-course dinner for $50 per person featuring a choice of appetizer; a root vegetable salad of beets, radishes, citrus glazed carrots, orange, whipped feta and mint; a choice of pan seared grouper or red wine-braised beef short ribs; and a choice of blood orange almond cake or chocolate mousse with a ginger, molasses cookie for dessert. For details and reservations visit the eatery's Facebook page.

And in the Wrightsville Beach area, Sweet n Savory Cafe, 1611 Pavilion Place, and 1900 Restaurant and Lounge, 1900 Eastwood Rd., are both serving four-course menus on Valentine’s Day, each with several options per course.

Sweet n Savory will not be serving their regular menu, and each entrée is priced individually, with the entrée price including all four courses. Reservations are being accepted from 5 to 9 p.m. and Benny Hill Jazz will be playing from 6 to 8 p.m. The full menu and reservation information are available online.

1900’s four-course menu is $55 per person and includes entrée choices of filet mignon, blackened salmon and rack of lamb presented by chef Zac Zaytoun. For details and reservations, visit the restaurant's Facebook page.

And if all that is a bit too much for your taste or budget, Flytrap Brewing is hosting a Valentine’s stout flight and donut hole pairing. Four, 4-oz. pours of Flytrap stouts will be paired with four creative donut holes by Wake N Bake Donuts. This $15 pairing will be available all day. Enjoy live music by Jared Michael Cline from 6-9 p.m., no reservation or date required.
