Piano Bar And Lounge To Fill Aubriana's Downtown Spot

By Cece Nunn, posted Jan 17, 2018

In downtown Wilmington, a piano bar and lounge will fill the spot where the restaurant Aubriana's used to be, according to an announcement Wednesday.

TAILS Piano Bar and Lounge will feature live music, craft cocktails and wine at 115 S. Front St., a news release from MoMentum Companies stated.

TAILS owner Gregg Thomas approached Terry Espy, president of MoMentum Companies, several months ago with a vision of an upscale yet inviting venue where locals and visitors alike would feel comfortable gathering to enjoy music and even hit the dance floor, the release said.

"With the closing of Costello's Piano Bar on Princess Street, there has been a noticeable gap in the market for a similar venue," the release said.

Thomas said the location for TAILS on South Front Street is ideal.

"The interiors just need a little love … and the rear gardens will be something to see,”  Thomas said in the release

Thomas' home, at the corner of South Front and Church streets, is well-known for its wrap-around porch and garden and has been a favorite when open to the public for holiday tours, the release stated.

“Knowing what Gregg has accomplished with his beautiful home I can assure you that TAILS will be something amazing to experience,” Espy said in the release.
