Just a week after opening a new location on Western Boulevard in Jacksonville, owners of The Greeks Authentic Mediterranean Deli have announced plans for The Greeks Express at 4015 Market St. in Wilmington.

Yanni Papanikolaou, who operates The Greeks at 124 Princess St. as well as the new Jacksonville restaurant with his parents and sister, said the Market Street location will have a drive-thru, and the menu will be designed to quickly accommodate drive-thru traffic.

Papanikolaou said there will be six types of gyros, two types of shwarma and lots of vegan and vegetarian items such as salads and falafel. He also plans to launch several new signature sandwiches.

“Our dishes have little to no saturated fat and about half the calories of a typical burger,” Papanikolaou said. “The new location will allow us to provide a much healthier option than traditional fast food, while still fast and at a very comparable price point.”

Papanikolaou said all items will be made to order with local meats and vegetables whenever possible. He said customers can expect combinations such as a gyro with a salad and drink to cost about $11.

The Market Street location is expected to open in early 2017.
