After several months of new construction that replaces their former buildings, both Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q at 3705 Patriot Way and Bojangles’ at 520 S. College Road have reopened.
 
The new Smithfield’s building embodies all the necessary elements to make the restaurant more efficient, said general manager Brian Butler. He said Smithfield’s is in the process of redoing all of its restaurants, giving them an updated look and the ability to better serve customers.
 
The 96-seat restaurant now has an open floor plan with high ceilings and lots of natural light. An additional register has been added to the counter, and the kitchen has been outfitted with all-new equipment.
 
This Smithfield’s location does process bulk orders for pick-up, but all catering and delivery is currently done through the Ogden location at 7300 Market St. Butler said that location will also undergo renovations sometime in the near future.
 
Bojangles’, which is located across the street from the University of North Carolina Wilmington at 520 S. College Road, reopened on April 26, following a two-month closure for the construction of a new building.

Given the proximity to UNCW, the restaurant has extended its hours from 5 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday, 5 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday and 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday.

“We are thrilled to reopen our Bojangles’ location near the university,” said Mike Burns, regional vice president for Bojangles’. “We look forward to bringing this community a brand new Bojangles’ restaurant, with friendly service and our popular, freshly-made menu items – including breakfast all day, every day – for many years to come.”

The company-owned restaurant is estimated to have 30 to 35 employees, and will seat about 70 guests.

Bojangles’ spokesman Cliff Cermak said the company does not currently have any other renovations scheduled for Wilmington-area restaurants.
