Denny's Opens; Henry's Completes Updates

Now in its third week of business, a new Denny’s in Wilmington is reporting a very steady flow of customers, according to co-owner Daniel Phelps.

“We did just about 3,000 orders for pickup last week,” said Phelps, who owns and operates two other Denny’s locations with partners Joe Fazio and Terry Leifheit. “This location has been the busiest so far in terms of pick-up orders.”

The 134-seat restaurant at 1201 S. College Road in Wilmington contains a mix of booths and tables, and the average wait during peak times has been about 10-15 minutes, according to manager Stacy Kemp.

One of the most popular features on the Denny’s menu, Phelps said, is the $2, $4, $6, $8 value menu, which includes four breakfast options in each price range.

“You can come in and have breakfast for as little as $2,” Phelps said. “And kids eat free on Tuesday and Saturday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.”

A grand opening celebration is planned for Oct. 20.

Following a brief closure for updates, Henry’s Restaurant & Bar, 2508 Independence Blvd., has reopened with new hardwood floors and booths as well as new lighting and wall coverings. New windows have been installed to allow for more natural light.

Lou Moshakos, founder of LM Restaurants Inc., the management company affiliated with Henry’s, was inspired to make changes when Cameron Management offered to expand Henry’s outdoor patio area as part of a beautification project at Barclay Commons. The patio is now also complete.

In addition to the cosmetic changes, Henry’s has updated its menu. According to Tricia Robson, marketing coordinator for LM Restaurants, Henry’s menu now includes meats, cheeses, produce and seafood from local farmers, growers, artisans and fisherman whenever possible.
