Brunswick Co. Real Estate Market Hits Milestone For The Year

By Cece Nunn, posted Oct 15, 2019

Brunswick County’s residential real estate sales crossed the $1 billion mark last month, according to numbers released Tuesday.

Cynthia Walsh, CEO of the Brunswick County Association of Realtors, said in a news release that the county is on track to exceed last year's figures.

"The number of homes sold in 2019 is likely to outpace each of the past three years," she stated in the release. "The bottom line is that our market is in strong shape moving into the fourth quarter.”

The average sale price in September was $288,501, down from $291,329 in August, according to the release.

"Average sale prices have not dropped below $280,000 since February," the release stated.

The county had 488 new listings in September, the lowest number so far this year, BCAR reported. The average number of days a home stays on market is hovering around the 80-day range, while the median days-on-market is 45 days.

The number of units sold in 2019 has topped 2016 and is 843 units away from outpacing 2017. That figure is 988 units shy of the 2018 total, according to the release.

The release stated that Hurricane Florence damaging the coast in September last year resulted in much lower real estate activity, making this year's numbers for the month significantly higher.
