Brunswick Realtors Release Year-end Home Sales Statistics

By Cece Nunn, posted Mar 16, 2015
Brunswick County’s regional real estate market experienced an uptick last year while its Brunswick-only MLS home sale data showed a slight decrease, the Brunswick County Association of Realtors (BCAR) announced Monday.

The association recently released 2014 year-end statistics from the Brunswick County MLS, which covers Brunswick, Bladen and Columbus counties, and for Brunswick County by itself, which showed a 1 percent decrease (from 2,244 to 2,228 units) compared to the previous year in single family residential sales. Meanwhile, the regional numbers showed a 3 percent increase (2,444 in 2014; 2,366 in 2013), according to a news release Monday from BCAR CEO Steve Candler.

“In the Brunswick County [only] MLS, the number of single-family units dropped slightly, but the number of listings and the total sales volume increased,” up 4 percent each, the release said.

The average sale price for the region for 2014 was $224,550, a 2 percent increase over 2013, while the Brunswick County MLS showed an average price for last year of $235,115, up 4 percent.

The largest percentage for 2014 came in the form of a 33 percent drop, from 533 homes to 359, in distressed sales, the numbers showed.
