In Advance Of Road Work, Business Leases New Space

By Cece Nunn, posted Oct 26, 2015
As a result of upcoming road work, a business that needs to move one of its four locations has signed a lease at a nearby shopping center, a broker said recently.

Custom Color Painting & Decorating, a seller of Benjamin Moore paints, will occupy 5,750 square feet at Ogden Plaza, said Hill Rogers, broker in charge with Cameron Management Inc., in a news release.

As a result of the lease, the business will move from its 6943 Market St. address to the center, 6834 Market St., early in the first quarter of 2016, Rogers said.

The move is necessary to make way for the Military Cutoff extension project, for which construction is expected to begin in the next couple of years, according to the N.C. Department of Transportation's website.

Before Custom Colors moves, the new store space "will undergo a significant interior renovation," Rogers said.

He said Ogden Plaza, anchored by a Harris Teeter, is 50 percent occupied.

The N.C. Department of Transportation has been acquiring properties in advance of the Military Cutoff extension work, and is expected to begin accepting bids on the work in October 2017, according to an agency timeline, which is subject to change.
