A company that builds custom homes has leased space in downtown Wilmington as it expands in the Cape Fear region.

The firm, 70 West Builders, will occupy a 3,416-square-foot, two-story building at 127 Grace St.

“We build everywhere from Jacksonville all the way down to the South Carolina line, so Wilmington was just a perfect hub,” said Rebekah Carr, custom homes representative for 70 West Builders. “We wanted to be right there in the middle of all the action.”

Carr said the company is in the process of getting the space ready now, with more announcements about the office to come.

Todd Toconis of Town & Country Real Estate was the listing and leasing agent in the transaction and said the company has signed a long-term lease. The property's lease price on Loopnet.com was $2,500 for the whole building.

Formerly home to a law firm, the space had been vacant for more than a year, Toconis said.

TidalWalk off Myrtle Grove Road and Hampstead Landing in Hampstead are among the Wilmington-area neighborhoods where 70 West Builders has a presence, according to the company’s website.
