One of the most historic residential properties in downtown Wilmington has a new owner.
Kimberly H. Hayden – a Raleigh resident and former board of trustees member for the University of North Carolina Wilmington, purchased the Dudley Mansion, 400 S. Front St., for $1.249 million, according to New Hanover County tax records.
The sale was recorded Aug. 28.
Jessica Edwards, a Realtor with Wilmington-based Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage, served as the listing agent on the property.
The Dudley Mansion was placed on the market in June for $1.2 million.
A plan for the future use of the historic property has not been released.
Hayden could not be reached for comment Wednesday afternoon.
The historic home was built in 1825 and has undergone numerous expansions and renovations over the years.
The 10,000-square-foot, three-story residence includes five bedrooms, three full bathrooms, three half bathrooms and nine fireplaces, also features expansive porches, a media room, library, dual staircases, a state-of-the-art kitchen and high-end appliances. The basement also has two separate living spaces, complete with kitchens and bathrooms and totals an additional 3,700 square feet.
The mansion is protected under state and local historic status, and is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
