Construction on Wilmington’s newest apartment complex is currently under way.
Crews began moving dirt on the $28 million Headwaters at Autumn Hall luxury apartment complex late last month.
Brian Eckel, co-founding partner of Cape Fear Commercial and one of Autumn Hall’s principle developers, said Wednesday he expects work on the apartment building structures to begin in the coming weeks.
Plans for the 14-acre site include 286 apartments with granite countertops, tile floors and stainless steel appliances. Tenants will have access to a fitness center, swimming pool, clubhouse and carwash on-site.
Eckel said plans are also in the works to link Wilmington’s Cross-City Trail into the development’s 231-acre trail system. The site will also have a kayaking station on site that will give its residents access to Bradley Creek, which empties into the Intracoastal Waterway.
Developers are also partnering with Liberty Healthcare officials to begin work on its senior living component of the development — Carolina Bay, a 23-acre mixture of active and assisted senior living.
Eckel added construction on new, class-A office space — called Dungannon Village — is slated to begin this summer.
