MarKraft Acquires Apex Cabinet Company

By Staff Reports, posted Apr 28, 2017
Wilmington-based MarKraft Cabinets has bought Apex Cabinet Company, officials announced this week.

With the acquisition MarKraft expands its footprint to the Triangle area, where Apex Cabinet is located. Though MarKraft now owns and operates it, Apex Cabinet kept its name and staff under the deal, which closed March 31, according to a news release.

“Our last acquisition was in 2015,” MarKraft President Cee Edwards said in the release. “We take a careful, methodical approach to our growth, ensuring that any company we acquire meets our high service standards, and that its core values are consistent with our own. After months of due diligence, we felt confident that Apex Cabinet Company was an ideal fit for our brand.”

MarKraft, which has 80 employees, supplies cabinetry, countertop and design elements for kitchens and baths and was founded in 1985. It opened a 15,000-square-foot office, warehouse and design center in Nashville in 2014 and the next year it acquired Kitchen & Bath Design Studio and opened a 13,500-square-foot headquarters and design center on Castle Creek Lane in Wilmington.

Apex Cabinet, a family-owned business, started in 1952.
