Cape Fear Future officials plan to launch a fundraising campaign Thursday and update investors about the initiative’s progress and where it is headed.
Cape Fear Future is a program of the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce intended to help grow the number of local knowledge workers such as entrepreneurs, scientists and tech workers.
At Thursday morning’s event, organizers plan to kick-off their Passion Works campaign to gain support from potential investors. The campaign has a $1 million goal, according to a release.
“The immediate purpose, however, is to share with investors the progress CFF has made to date, highlight where we need to be, and demonstrate how we will reach our goals with your help and support,” the release stated.
Thursday’s event is scheduled for 7:30-9 a.m. at the Wilmington Convention Center
Expected to speak are: Passion Works campaign chairman and New Hanover Regional Medical Center president and CEO Jack Barto; campaign vice chairman Randy Tomsic and Wilmington market president for Wells Fargo; and Cape Fear Future board chairman Hal Kitchin of McGuireWoods.
Wilmington Mayor Bill Saffo, New Hanover County Superintendent Tim Markley and Fran Scarlett, interim director of the UNCW Entrepreneurship Center, are slated to participate in a panel discussion.
