Plantation Building Corp receives Houzz award
Plantation Building Corp. of Wilmington has been named “Best of Remodeling” 2012 by Houzz, an online platform for residential remodeling and design. More than 1.2 million registered Houzz members chose the company for the award.
“This is a real stamp of approval for Plantation Building Corp. from the Houzz community, and we’re thrilled to welcome them to this elite group of ‘Best Of’ winners,” Liza Hausman, vice president of marketing for Houzz, said in a press release.
 
McKim & Creed Inc. hires senior CAD designer
Paige Vassar has rejoined McKim & Creed Inc. as the company’s Wilmington office senior CAD designer. McKim & Creed is a 350-person, employee-owned engineering, geomatics and planning firm. The company, which has offices across the South, established its Wilmington location in 1978. The company has expanded its services into Texas by acquiring SURVCON, a Division of McKim & Creed.

Wilmington student lands state internship
Dana Brinkley of Wilmington has accepted the Legislative Research Assistant internship with the N.C. Senate. Brinkley, a second year law student at Wake Forest School of Law, is the only student from the lower Cape Fear region to serve as an intern with a state agency this summer.
 
Smith Moore Leatherwood names new Director of Marketing and Business Development
Vicki Cummings has joined Smith Moore Leatherwood as the director of marketing and business development. Prior to joining Smith Moore Leatherwood, Cummings worked for six years as the director of marketing for Appleby, a leading global offshore law firm. She has also served as the chief marketing officer for several Am Law 100 firms.
 
New broker at Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage
After 15 years in real estate development with Farmstead, Meadowlands and other ventures, Teresa McLamb will now practice general brokerage with Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage. McLamb, a native of Southeastern North Carolina, is a member of the national, state and local levels of the Association of Realtors. Her awards include a GE Award of Excellence for Communication in Implementing Change and a City of Wilmington Certificate of Appreciation.
