Donna Girardot, executive officer of the Wilmington-Cape Fear Home Builders Association (WCFHBA) and CEO of the Business Alliance for a Sound Economy (BASE) has been appointed as a member of the NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources (NC DENR) Business and Industry Environmental Roundtable. Girardot’s appointment will run through December 2011.  Appointees from across the state will meet on a quarterly basis with the secretary and DENR senior management to, “hear about departmental activities, discuss current topics, and offer comments and advice on the various environmental and natural resource issues confronting North Carolina,” said DENR Secretary Dee Freeman in a press release.

Catlin Engineers and Scientists recently was recognized with the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Administrator’s Award for Excellence. The engineering company was nominated for the environmental work the company did at Camp Lejeune and MCAS Cherry Point, according to a press release.


The Wilmington-Cape Fear Home Builders Association (WCFHBA) announces the addition of Leigh Lewis as Director of Member Services.  Prior to joining the WCFHBA, Lewis served as marketing executive for Cumulus Broadcasting where she was responsible for creating marketing plans for new accounts. She also managed the production of marketing materials, secured sponsorships and built relationships with a wide range of customers.

Intracoastal Realty Corp. recently donated $8,000 to fund scholarships at UNCW, Cape Fear Community College and Brunswick Community College for the 2009-2010 academic school year. This year’s scholarship donations were presented in the amounts of: UNCW – $4,000, CFCC – $3,000 and Brunswick Community College – $1,000. Intracoastal Realty Corp. also provides funding for the Teacher’s Fund, a non-profit which has awarded more than $175,000 to elementary schools through educational material grants.
