N2 Publishing started in a spare bedroom 10 years ago, but now the Wilmington-based publishing firm is not only growing but also moving to much larger space.
 
Company officials announced Thursday that its offices soon will be housed at 5051 New Centre Drive.
 
N2 Publishing purchased the 32,000-square-foot building and closed on the property this week. Renovations on the building, which was built in 1970, began immediately.
 
Company officials said the firm plans to begin moving in the coming months with the full team transitioned by the end of the year.
 
The company, which specializes in magazines and newsletters for homeowner’s associations and municipalities across the country, believes the move will give it the space needed to accommodate a growing number of employees.
 
“We are averaging at least one new hire every week,” CEO Duane Hixon said in a statement. “From graphic designers to field support to press operators, this business is truly a team effort and as demand increases, we are excited for more great people to join our work family.”
 
The publishing firm, which ranked 17 on Inc. Top 100 fastest-growing privately owned U.S. media companies last year, currently has more than 100 full-time, local employees and an additional 600 employees nationwide.
 
Finding the right space was difficult for the quickly expanding company, especially since it wanted to find a location that was convenient for the largest number of employees.
 
“We created a map detailing where every current employee resides,” HR and marketing coordinator Katherine Daniel said Friday. “We used the map to determine the most convenient search area for the majority of our employees. The search was lengthy and thorough, but this property popped up on our radar. We were excited to figure out that it met all of the search criteria in terms of location and what we need in order to operate.”
 
This is not the first time the publisher has had to adapt its headquarters to fit its growing needs.
 
In 2012, the company purchased two additional 4,000-square-foot spaces near its current headquarters on Merchant Court to house its expanding design department and print operations.
