Boat Building Company Moves To Brunswick County

By Jenny Callison, posted Mar 10, 2014
A company that builds catamarans will be moving to Brunswick County, officials announced last week.

The 33rd Strike Group will move into 35,000 square feet of space in the Brunswick Industrial Warehouse complex near Navassa on Lackey Road, Brunswick County Economic Development Commission executive director Jim Bradshaw said in an email Monday.

The company, headed by Paul Miller and Jeff Gross, will begin operations May 1, according to an announcement by Miller – creating 50 jobs “over the next few years.”

“We chose Brunswick County based on its connections to major highways, proximity to the port, and the quality of life in the area, not to mention the support we have received from the Brunswick [County] economic development department,” Miller said in his announcement.

“Our mission is to bring affordable boating back to the market place in the form of a quality aluminum catamaran. Jeff Gross and I have teamed up with Hudson Wang of Taiwan in order to make this happen. Hudson is a manufacturing entrepreneur that currently employs more than 5,500 people overseas,” Miller said. “The idea is having components sent here by container for final assembly in the U.S.”

The company has two other projects “on the drawing board” that they intend to bring to the Brunswick Industrial Warehouse facility, Miller said in his announcement, although few details were released about the pending operations.

Gross was unavailable for comment Monday afternoon.
