Brunswick Hospital Offers Diagnostic Heart Catheterizations

By Staff Reports, posted Sep 6, 2019
Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center has started providing diagnostic cardiac catheterizations and vascular studies, officials recently announced.

Novant Health partnered with NHRMC Physician Group-Cape Fear Heart Associates to offer mobile diagnostic cardiac catheterizations, according to a news release.

The procedures are performed by Cape Fear Heart Associates’ Joshua Winslow twice a month at Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center. Winslow is board-certified in nuclear cardiology, cardiovascular medicine and internal medicine.

“Before this partnership, patients had to go out of their way to have this procedure,” Brunswick Medical Center President Shelbourn Stevens said in the release.

A minimally invasive procedure, a diagnostic cardiac catheterization involves passing a catheter through blood vessels to the heart to tell how well a heart is functioning and to diagnose any possible cardiac disease, officials said.
