Well Care Health’s recent expansion into Cumberland County is growing the company’s reach in the state and employment base, including that of its headquarters in Wilmington, officials with the company said Monday.
Well Care Home Health of the Triangle, an entity of locally based Well Care Health, announced Monday the addition of Cumberland County to its service area, offering a scope of home health care services there including skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, medical social work and home health aide services.
"We are excited to expand our home health care services to Cumberland County," Wanda Coley, president and COO of Well Care Health, said in the release. "Cumberland County is adjacent to our current geographical area, and aligns with our strategic growth plans."
Well Care Health is an integrated post-acute, in-home care agency that encompasses the entities Well Care Home Health and Well Care Home Care. The company already provides some home care services in Cumberland County.
With the expansion of home health care services, the company will bring additional jobs to Cumberland County.
According to Jennifer Cascio, Well Care’s communications manager, the expansion of services in Cumberland County will also add “a number of jobs” to the company’s base in Wilmington, though the exact number is not known at this time, she said.
“Well Care expects to add between 30-40 employees due to this expansion,” Cascio said in an email. “While the majority of the growth will be in Cumberland County, the agency will hire administrative employees at its headquarters in Wilmington to support the growth.”
In Wilmington, employment growth will lie mainly in its intake and billing and payroll departments, she added Monday.
In addition, Well Care Home Care has opened a new office in Fayetteville. The new office, combined with the addition of Well Care’s home health services in Cumberland County, will bring integrated, post-acute care options to the region, “allowing patients to heal in the comfort of their homes,” officials said in the release.
The expansion into Cumberland County is part of Well Care Health's growth plans over the next two years. The company plans to grow elsewhere in North Carolina and across state lines in the future, officials have said previously.
In late 2017, Coley said the company is also looking into extending its reach of service lines, with plans to go into hospice care
. Although the company has not released a timeline for launching that service, Cascio said Monday, the company is in the planning stages.
Well Care Health serves more than 40 counties in North Carolina -- from the coast to the Triad -- and employs more than 800 people in the state, including nearly 600 in the Wilmington area.
