Numotion Acquires Rehab Division Of CVC Home Medical

By Christina Haley O'Neal, posted Aug 9, 2017
Numotion, a nationwide provider of complex rehab technology headquartered in Brentwood, Tennessee, has announced the acquisition of CVC Home Medical's rehab division in Wilmington, extending its business reach in eastern North Carolina, officials with the company announced in a press release.

Numotion's Wilmington branch, 2105 Capital Drive in Murrayville Station, is one of five locations in North Carolina, including Greensboro, Raleigh, Charlotte and Apex, according to Lisa Bui, operations manager in Wilmington.

With the acquisition, all of CVC Home Medical's rehab employees will be integrated into Numotion’s Wilmington branch, increasing the company's employment base in Wilmington to 12, according to Bui. The terms of the acquisition were not made public.

Working with some of the same therapists and referrals, Bui said the Numotion's acquisition of CVC's rehab division "just made sense.”

“It’s just a great opportunity and were very excited and working to get everyone moving in so we can get off on a great foot,” Bui said.

“To serve more people with disabilities so they can actively live their life, we’re always looking for those types of opportunities and this was one of those,” Christopher Till, vice president of communications for Numotion, added.

Numotion provides complex rehab technology (CRT), a series of mobility products and services, including manual and power wheelchairs, designed to meet the medical and functional needs of individuals with significant disabilities and medical conditions to provide them with greater independence.

“These are products that are designed to fit the very specific and very unique medical needs … of individuals with a variety of diagnosis,” Till said.

The company serves adults and children with a wide range of diagnoses including multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, ALS, and spina bifida, as well as those with traumatic brain or spinal cord injuries, Till said. Products are modified to meet the individual needs of customers.

“We are really helping people reach that independence level that they need,” Till said.

Numotion has 130 locations across the country and serves 250,000 customers annually. The company's location in Wilmington currently has more than 300 orders in different stages, Bui said.

“We are excited about expanding in North Carolina,” Mike Swinford, CEO of Numotion, said in the release. “We are always looking for ways to better serve customers and provide them with innovative mobility solutions. This acquisition will provide the disabled community in eastern North Carolina with greater access to mobility resources, products and services."

Current CVC rehab customers will not experience any changes in their service, the company noted in the release. The acquisition does not include CVC’s non-CRT product lines.
