New City Maps Give Answers On Development Activity, Other Questions

By Cece Nunn, posted Feb 12, 2015
A map gallery the city of Wilmington launched this week can, among other capabilities, provide details about new developments, a city email announced Thursday.

Six interactive maps aim to show in a user-friendly way, the city says, who maintains which streets, how properties are zoned, where development activity is taking place, where flood zones are located and where people can find bike and walking trails.

"New content is being added on a regular basis," explains a city how-to for the new maps.

The how-to also says, "If something isn’t working right, could be improved, or if you have ideas for content you would like to see added to the gallery, please feel free to contact us," giving a phone number, 910-341-5826, and email address, [email protected].

"You're starting to see cities around the country provide information like this, and it's part of what we're doing to provide more information online to citizens to make it more accessible more easily," said Malissa Talbert, city spokeswoman. "We're trying to highlight what may be of most importance or of most interest to citizens, things that they would find the most useful."
