UNCW Among Top-ranked Regional Schools On Several Surveys

By Jenny Callison, posted Sep 9, 2014
University of North Carolina Wilmington continues to garner high rankings in two publications that rate undergraduate institutions.

The university announced Tuesday that U.S. News & World Report listed it among the top 20 regional universities in the South. UNCW also maintained its top-10 ranking as one of the best public institutions in the South on U.S. News' "Best Colleges" rankings, according to the university's news release.

The "Best Colleges" regional list, according to the release, is made up of schools in each of the four geographic areas of the U.S. - North, South, Midwest and West - that provide a full range of undergraduate majors and master's programs.

“UNCW is proud to be continuously recognized as a premier institution in our region by U.S. News & World Report,” interim chancellor William A. Sederburg said in the release. “As a public university, UNCW strives to provide students with world-class facilities and programs, and this ranking illustrates the strength of this, which is made possible by our renowned faculty and staff.”

The rankings from U.S. News follow on several other recent kudos for UNCW, the release stated. The Princeton Review recognized UNCW as one of the "Best in the Southeast" on its "The Best 379 Colleges: 2015 Edition" list. And the university was featured on Washington Monthly's "2014 Best Bang For The Buck" list, the release stated.
