Leland Town Clerk and Administrative Manager Sabrena Reinhardt was chosen as the 2020 Clerk of the Year by the N.C. Association of Municipal Clerks, according to a news release.

Reinhardt has served in her role with the town of Leland for eight years, officials said. She has earned a Certified Municipal Cleark designation and is one of 70 -- out of the 552 municipalities in North Carolina -- to have achieved a Master Certified Clerk designation.

“Sabrena’s welcoming, can-do spirit thrives in the kind of culture the Town has cultivated, one that focuses on engagement, respect, service to others and maintaining a supportive work environment, among other principles,” said Assistant Town Manager Missy in the release. “And her dedication to her profession is evident in her continued pursuit of education, certification and involvement with her peers throughout North Carolina.”

Rhodes nominated Reinhardt for the award, stated the release.

"The annual award honors outstanding clerks or deputy clerks throughout the state, who, among other qualities, demonstrate a commitment to professional development and community involvement, exhibit an extraordinary job performance, and maintain a positive attitude in the workplace," stated the release.

To be eligible for the N.C. Association of Municipal Clerks (NCAMC) Clerk of the Year award, nominees must be an active member of the association for at least four years and "bring innovative ideas to the association," stated the release.

Reinhardt currently serves as the District 3 director for the NCAMC Board of Directors. She has been involved with the organization for more than five years, volunteering to serve on a number of committees, officials said.

“Within any municipality of any size, the clerk plays a vital role in daily operations and ensuring long-term success,” Leland Mayor Brenda Bozeman said in the release. “My fellow Council members and I, as well as Town staff, already knew that Sabrena was an exceptional clerk. I am thrilled, though not at all surprised, that she is now getting statewide recognition. As North Carolina Clerk of the Year, she will be a stellar representative of both her field and the Town of Leland.”
