Wilmington and Beaches Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) has received a N.C. Travel Industry Association award for its Comeback campaign, according to a news release.

Wilmington CVB has earned the Platinum Award in the Meetings & Conventions category as part of the 2018-2019 Tourism Marketing Achievement Awards presented by the N.C. Travel Industry Association (NCTIA) in September, stated the release.

Kim Hufham, president and CEO of the New Hanover County Tourism Development Authority, accepted the award.

The trade industry Comeback campaign was created to promote the area’s recovery after Hurricane Florence, which hit the region in September 2018. It was also meant to promote the region's ability to host meetings, conventions and events, post-storm, officials said in the release.

“It is exciting for the Wilmington and Beaches CVB to be recognized for the post-storm recovery-based marketing campaign that was developed and executed immediately following Hurricane Florence last September. The Platinum Award is NCTIA’s highest honor and we are proud to serve our travel partners and to represent the destination with award-winning, multi-faceted marketing programs,” Hufham said.

Officials said that the NCTIA Tourism Marketing Achievement Awards are given "to honor and showcase innovation, best practices, creativity and the results accomplished through the travel and tourism industry’s marketing efforts."

There are several different categories for the awards, which are judged by a committee made up of travel and tourism professionals, stated the release.
