Butler Snow has announced that Scott Lewis has been elected as a fellow of the American College of Coverage and Extracontractual Counsel (ACCEC), according to a news release.

Lewis is a member of Butler Snow’s commercial litigation practice group, focusing on insurance bad faith, professional liability, municipal and school liability and construction litigation, officials said in the release.

“We congratulate Scott on this significant accomplishment,” Donald Clark Jr., chairman of Butler Snow, said in the release. “Scott’s induction as a fellow showcases his talent and hard work in the legal profession and his strong reputation among our peers and colleagues. He will be a valuable contributor to ACCEC.”

ACCEC is a national organization comprised of more than 300 preeminent lawyers involved in coverage and extracontractual matters, with fellows representing both policyholders and insurers and honorary members from academia, officials said in the release.

Lewis is a member of the N.C. Bar Association, Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, N.C. Association of Defense Attorneys, New Hanover County Bar Association and Defense Research Institute.

Lewis received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a Morehead Scholar, and his Juris Doctor from Wake Forest University. He is admitted to practice in North Carolina, the U.S. District Court of North Carolina: eastern, western and northern and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit.
