Wells Fargo Provides Grant To Honor Company Volunteer In Wilmington

By Christina Haley O'Neal, posted Jan 2, 2018
Wells Fargo announced it will provide Lump to Laughter with a $10,000 grant to recognize the efforts of one of its team member volunteers.

Connie Hill, an administrative assistant with Wells Fargo’s mortgage team, received a Wells Fargo Volunteer Service Award for her commitment to Lump to Laughter, according to a news release. The award recognizes employees who make an impact through volunteerism.

“We couldn’t be prouder of Connie and her efforts to support Lump to Laughter,” Thomas Cline, region bank president for Wells Fargo in eastern North Carolina, said in the release. “Our goal is to build strong and vibrant communities, improve the quality of life and make a positive difference. Through her compassion and involvement, Connie is doing just that.”

Hill serves as acting volunteer executive director for Lump to Laughter. The organization is dedicated to providing support for those diagnosed with breast cancer.

Before her job starts at Wells Fargo, during her lunch break, after work hours and every weekend, Hill dedicates her time to support women diagnosed with breast cancer and manages the day-to-day operations of the organization, officials said.

The long term impact of her work has grown the organization from a small six-person group meeting in one city to a national support organization. She and the organization hope to grow all of its programs nationwide and expand its support to more women and men outside of southeastern North Carolina, according to the release.

Officials said the awarded funds will be used to assist in updating the organization’s website, hiring a part-time staff member or supporting various other ongoing needs of the organization such as support, providing free essentials, “Hope Packages” for those who are newly diagnosed and an “Angel Fund” offering financial assistance to those diagnosed.

Hill and 185 other U.S. and international Wells Fargo employees received Volunteer Service Awards in 2017, which was the 39th year of the awards. A committee of fellow team members chooses the winners based on the nominee’s dedication to the nonprofit, time volunteered, effectiveness of their work and the potential impact of the award on the community the nonprofit serves. More than 600 team members applied for awards.
