36 New Class Members In 2018 Leadership Wilmington

By Christina Haley O'Neal, posted Aug 15, 2017
Three dozen Wilmington business and community leaders will make up the 2018 Leadership Wilmington class, Leadership Wilmington recently announced in a press release.

Leadership Wilmington is a program of the Wilmington Chamber Foundation. The 10-month long program, sponsored by the foundation, has an objective to educate, challenge and motivate leaders and future leaders “to utilize their skills to work for the betterment of the community,” the release from the foundation said.

This year’s diverse class brings a wealth of experience to share with the Wilmington community and their classmates, officials said in the release.  (See a full list of class members below.

An orientation was held on Aug. 10 at the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce, where the class was introduced to the scope and content of the Leadership Wilmington program.

The class will plan and conduct the Work on Wilmington project, a hands on event that provides class members an opportunity to put their leadership, decision making and teamwork skills to work.

The class will begin to work on the project during the Leadership Wilmington Retreat, Aug. 24-25 at Fort Caswell in Oak Island. The last Work on Wilmington event organized by the 2017 Leadership Wilmington class completed 38 community projects with 1,000 participating volunteers.

Following the Retreat, the 2018 Leadership Wilmington class will begin full-day sessions once a month, September through April.
