The Harrelson Center recently announced the appointment of Meade Horton Van Pelt as new executive director.

Van Pelt succeeds Vicki Dull, the executive director since 2010, who announced her retirement in November. Van Pelt began at The Harrelson Center on Dec. 1.

She joins the center after 21 years at Pitney Bowes Inc. and is involved in the community through her church, Gregory Elementary PTA, The Ministering Circle and the Presbyterian Counseling Center board. Van Pelt holds a BA in mass communication and media studies from University of North Carolina at  Chapel Hill and an MBA in management from University of North Carolina Wilmington.

"Meade brings to the table a passion and heart for people that will serve us well,” said board president Austin Aley in a news release. “I am excited that under Meade's leadership, we will continue to thrive in the mission of addressing the unmet needs in our communities.”

The Jo Ann Carter Harrelson Center is a nonprofit center that provides services and a place of collaboration for organizations to serve people in need.
