Connie Majure-Rhett, Wilmington Chamber of Commerce president and CEO, has been appointed to a one-year term on the Carolinas Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (CACCE).

Majure-Rhett has more than 35 years of experience in chamber management and is a member of the board of the Blue Ribbon Commission on the Prevention of Youth Violence, the New Hanover County Tourism Development Authority, the Port Waterway & Beach Commission, the Wilmington Convention Center Advisory Board and the Cameron School of Business Executive Advisory Board.

The CACCE was formed in 1994. The association provides chamber professionals with leadership skills and tools to build innovative chambers, according to the group.

Majure-Rhett also recently attended a conference co-hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation and National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

The program – The Path Forward: Improving Opportunities for African-American Students – “furthers the national discourse on closing achievement gaps for African-American students while attracting the support of business leaders, civil rights leaders and policymakers,” according to a news release. It served as an opportunity for local chamber of commerce and business leaders and local NAACP chapter leaders to partner together and create strategies to address African-American student achievement, officials said.

“The Wilmington Chamber of Commerce is committed to advocating for the best education and resources needed to succeed academically for all students,” Majure-Rhett said in the release.
