Tomkinson Chosen As CFLC Permanent Director

By Jenny Callison, posted Aug 11, 2015
Yasmin Tomkinson was named the Cape Fear Literacy Council’s permanent executive director, the board of directors announced in July.

Tomkinson, who has served as interim executive director since December, came to CFLC as a volunteer tutor in 2002 and joined the staff in 2004 as adult literacy director.

She earned her bachelor’s degree at Vassar College and her MBA with a concentration in nonprofit management from Boston University. Before moving to Wilmington, Tomkinson worked for education-focused nonprofits in rural Utah as well as in Los Angeles, Baltimore and Boston, the release stated

“Already, over the past six months, [Tomkinson] has brought fresh energy to our organization,” CFLC’s board president Rachel Pace said in the release. “Because of her long-time commitment to literacy and a strong and detailed knowledge of our programs, Ms. Tomkinson brings many talents to the position. We are looking forward to continued growth for Cape Fear Literacy Council under her leadership.”
