Cape Fear Academy recently announced that D. Scott Corbett, an alumnus and longtime trustee and volunteer, has been named the school’s first trustee emeritus.
 
“Corbett began his legacy of service to Cape Fear Academy in 1988 as the founding president of the Alumni Association, serving for four years, and then served on the Cape Fear Academy Board of Trustees from 1995 to 2000 and again from 2005 to 2012,” the school's news release stated.  “He also served as treasurer for the board of trustees from 1997-2000 and on the trustees’ Finance Committee for 20 years.  He led key parts of the efforts to expand the campus over the last two decades.”  
 
In a separate release, the school announced that Hugh McManus, head of Upper School at Cape Fear Academy, (at left) has been selected as the 2015 N.C. Scholastic Media Association’s (NCSMA) Administrator of the Year.

McManus has been Upper School director since 2006, after serving for nine years as principal of J.T. Hoggard High School in Wilmington and another nine years as principal of Topsail High School in Hampstead. During McManus’ tenure at Cape Fear Academy, the journalism students have won multiple top honors at the NCSMA state competitions, the release stated.
