The Southeast Education Alliance named Tim Markley, superintendent of New Hanover County Schools, superintendent of the year for the southeast region of North Carolina, according to a news release.
 
The Education Alliance is comprised of 13 superintendents from public school districts across the southeastern portion of the state, and, in addition, the honor includes a nomination for the 2015 N.C. Superintendent of the Year Award that is announced in November.
 
Markley has been superintendent of New Hanover County since 2010.
 
“I consider the honor to be more of a district award,” Markley said, “as it is a reflection of the positive work that is being done in our schools by both employees and students.”
