Lower Cape Fear Hospice announced last month that it was named a 2015 Hospice Honor recipient, according to a news release.

Hospice Honors, which are presented annually, recognize hospices that continuously provide the highest level of care satisfaction as measured from a caregiver’s point of view, the release stated. The award was given by Deyta, which compiles data and surveys on health care.

Award criteria were based on Family Evaluation of Hospice Care survey results.

LCFH is a nonprofit agency that provides health care and comfort to people with advanced illnesses in Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover, Onslow and Pender counties in North Carolina, and Horry County in South Carolina.

LCFH also announced last month that Meki Jacobs Graham, a nurse practitioner at the agency, has received her doctor of nursing practice degree from Gardner-Webb University, according to a press release. She is the first nurse at LCFH to receive this degree, officials said.

Graham is also part of a rural health fellowship through Duke University and Johnson & Johnson.
