Sara Knotts has been named director of the Brunswick County Board of Elections, the county announced in August.

Knotts, who assumed her new role Aug. 1 following the retirement of former director Greg Bellamy, has worked for the board of elections for eight years, most recently as deputy director, according to a news release.

The release also stated that Melissa Monroe, formerly an elections technician, will replace Knotts as the board’s deputy director.

Knotts is a University of North Carolina Wilmington graduate.
