Alcami Corporation has announced the addition of Lloyd Smith to its management team.

Smith, in his role as senior Environmental Health and Safety manager for Wilmington operations, will lead efforts in support of end-to-end pharmaceutical and biotherapeutic service offerings at Alcami, according to a news release.

“Lloyd’s dynamic background and strategic leadership skills will ensure that Alcami remains focused on maintenance of world-class safety performance as we continue to provide integrated services and solutions to small and mid-sized pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies,” Pete McGinnis, Alcami's Environmental Health and Safety vice president, said in the release.

Smith received his undergraduate degree from N.C. State University (NCSU) where he majored in animal physiology and environmental science. He went on to teach at Central Carolina Community College, where he partnered with NCSU to introduce a community college research study in mammalian immunology.

Smith is a seasoned Environmental Health and Safety professional and a champion of workplace safety and environmental sustainability, officials said in the release.

Prior to joining Alcami, Smith served in environmental health and safety leadership roles within the pharmaceutical and manufacturing industries. In addition, he has held positions in various professional and community organizations with a focus on environmental health and safety improvement.

Smith is a CHMM (certified hazardous materials manager, masters level) in connection with the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management.
