UNCW's Finance Curriculum Earns CFA Designation

By Jenny Callison, posted Mar 15, 2016
University of North Carolina Wilmington has been designated a CFA Institute “Recognized Institution,” according to a recent news release.

The designation means the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Institute has determined the finance curriculum offered in the university's Cameron School of Business aligns with the CFA body of knowledge and prepares students for careers in the investment management field.

Students who graduate from UNCW with a bachelor's degree in business administration and a concentration in finance are prepared to take the CFA exams upon graduation, the release stated. The university also is able to offer scholarships that reduce the cost of sitting for those exams.

“This recognition is a validation of the extremely high-quality finance program we have at UNCW and a milestone in achieving our vision of global visibility,” Rob Burrus, dean of the Cameron School of Business, said in the release. “The recognition also highlights a strenuous code of ethics infused in our students – standards much needed in the financial and business worlds of today.”
