Dallas, Texas-based Wingstop, a franchise specializing in chicken wings and fries, celebrated the grand opening Saturday of its Wilmington location at 341 S. College Road, Suite 12, in University Commons.

This is the second franchise location for owner Kirk Jeter, who gave away five free wings to guests while they enjoyed live music and door prizes during the grand opening event.

“The Jeters opened their first Wingstop in Raleigh . . . and knew that they wanted their next location to be in Wilmington,” said Anne-Catherine Harris, southeast regional marketing director for Wingstop. “The feedback we’ve had from guests since we opened our doors has been overwhelmingly positive.”

Wingstop’s menu features bone-in and boneless chicken wings, as well as chicken tenders, all sauced and tossed in the customer’s choice of 11 flavors including mango habanero, hickory-smoked barbecue, garlic parmesan and original hot. Sides include hand-cut, seasoned fries and cheddar fries, baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad and veggie sticks and dips.

The new Wingstop is open from 10:30 a.m. to midnight daily. To place orders for pick-up, guests can visit order.wingstop.com or download the Wingstop app for Android or iPhone. Call-ahead orders can be placed at (910) 999-1234.

The Wilmington location is one of more than 1,000 Wingstops worldwide.
