WilmingtonBiz Talk: Local Manufacturers Address Worker Recruitment

By Cece Nunn, posted Jun 24, 2021
Manufacturing firms in the Wilmington area are facing workforce issues, including shortages of workers and the need for employees looking for a long-term career.

These issues and more led to the formation of the Cape Fear Manufacturing Partnership, a growing group of more than two dozen manufacturing executives that started meeting last year. The group represents the region’s varying industries and wide range of locally manufactured products.

On Thursday's WilmingtonBiz Talk, two industry leaders spoke about the efforts of the partnership and some of the concerns the group is working to address.

Those leaders are Jim Flock, general manager of Leland-based HSM Machine Works, who is chairman of the manufacturing partnership, and Steve Janz, vice president of international sales and strategic business development for Leland-based Flow Sciences Inc.

To learn more about their companies and the partnership's work, watch WilmingtonBIz Talk below.

Additional information about the partnership can also be obtained by emailing [email protected].

The issues are also explored in the Greater Wilmington Business Journal's June 18 print edition cover story, which can be read by clicking here.

BizTalk is live-streamed on the Business Journal's Facebook page each week at noon Thursday. For notifications on upcoming topics, sign up for newsletters at wilmingtonbiz.com/register and to submit topic or speaker ideas, email [email protected].
