Local artist and poet Dick Roberts co-founded Acme Art Studios 30 years ago and the No Boundaries International Art Colony 20 years ago.

The art colony brings artists from around the world to Bald Head Island once a year to immerse themselves in a creative environment.

Like many things, 2020 scuttled this year’s plans, but the work continues.

A retrospective exhibit by colony participants runs through Dec. 18 at CFCC’s Wilma W. Daniels Art Gallery.

For Roberts, his current exhibit “Tributaries of Abstraction,” runs through Jan. 29 at Acme and as part of a virtual tour through Art in Bloom Gallery.

“The magic of painting can never be totally explained,” Roberts said. “I find joy in discovering the emerging world of a new painting.”
