AT&T Expands Area 1G Internet Service

By Vicky Janowski, posted Jun 2, 2017
AT&T recently expanded its 1 gigabit internet footprint in the Wilmington market.

The AT&T product now connects to customers in part of the area – making it one of only 53 metros nationally where the company has made its ultra-fast internet service available. The company’s goal is to reach at least 75 metro areas.

“In addition to the homes and small businesses connected to our 100% fiber network in the Wilmington area, we connect area apartment and condo properties, such as Woodridge Pointe, RiverLights and the Village at Mayfaire. We plan to expand access to our ultra-fast internet speeds in parts of Leland in the future,” stated a May 24 news release.

Last summer, AT&T introduced its 1 gigabit option to area businesses and announced plans in the fall for the wider, residential service for Wilmington.

A1 gigabit connection allows 25 songs to download in one second or a 90-minute HD movie to download in less than 34 seconds.

The AT&T Internet 1000 product on the fiber network rings up at $70 a month for customers bundling with other AT&T services or $80 a month as a standalone pick.
