Info Junkie
Jason Frye
Freelance travel and food writer

Jason Frye is on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook constantly, posting photos and videos of his travels. “I’m a travel and food writer, and that means I go places to explore and taste the cuisine, then write about it so you can go have a better time when you visit.”

For publications, he regularly reads Our State, AAA Traveler, Bon Appétit, Saveur, Garden & Gun, New York Times (travel, food and books sections), Southern Living and Coastal Living.

Favorite websites and blogs are Deadspin.com, AtlasObscura, SmithsonianMag.com, The Bitter Southerner and Paste Travel.

The Joe Rogan Experience is his go-to podcast. Runner up is Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History – “excellent long-form podcast telling the stories, not just the facts, of historic events and people.”

On the small screen: “M*A*S*H is the greatest show ever, but I’m a big fan of FX. Their shows – The Shield (best TV ending I’ve seen), The Americans, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Fargo – are some of the best on cable.”

A longtime fan of Stephen King, Frye points to Revival as a good recent one – “but The Dark Tower is where it’s at for me.” Also calls Malcolm Gladwell a favorite and lately has been Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale and the Oryx & Crake trilogy.

Recommends checking out these: “Blue Ridge Outdoors has a great Instagram, as does @usinterior, @nasa, @visitnc, @natgeoadventure.”
